<\/a><\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/a>The drive was curvy, beautiful, and uneventful as expected. We made another short stop in Ollantantambo on the drive through. We visited a local coffee shop where I had an incredible lemon and ginger tea which I must figure out how to recreate. We had originally planned to visit the ruins here as well, but it was raining so we decided to pass. I for one was a bit burned out on ruins, but in retrospect I should have manned-up and visited the ruins in the rain. Live and learn. And another on the list of reasons to go back some day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We eventually arrived in Urubamba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Urubamba<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n Once in town, the next task was to find a place to stay. After some online searches we decided to check out an option in a small town called Yucay just outside of Urubamba. Scary, scary, scary. It took a while to find the building and two minutes in the lobby, along with some non-answers from the staff, to send us on our way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One good thing to come out of this detour was a restaurant in Yucay called Ananau. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\nWe were also able to solve the lodging question. We tracked down a nice eco lodge on the edge of Urubamba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\nIt was another very cold night, so the extra layers of bedding came in handy. They provided us with a heater, but I had some reservations about running a propane heater in a small enclosed space all night, so we warmed up the room and shut the heater off. We were the only ones staying there (it’s the off season) so the dining area was all ours for breakfast the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tomorrow will be another busy day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
